Evolved Perspectives Begin with TRUST

Never underestimate the value of trust.

We naturally assess people when we meet them. We compare them to our standard of “normal” and we unintentionally identify ways that we are similar. There is something about likeness that brings comfort when you are in a new place, with a new team or joining a new circle. What we sometimes forget is that this natural practice of evaluation happens on both sides. So, how do we move forward in creating trust?

Where you find an immediate connection, there may be an inherent openness making it easier and more natural to form bonds and trust. Where there are differences we are more eager to raise questions and have wonderings, making it more difficult to build bonds and trust.

So, what do we do — we do our part by being our authentic selves and sharing openly and honestly, which can be very difficult to do. But, when we dig deeper beyond the surface we begin to find that there are likely more shared experiences and other similarities. Even if there are not, there is a chance that other people will respect your sharing, show empathy on difficult topics, or push themselves to think beyond their comfort zones.

Through the processes of sharing and understanding we develop and broaden our perspectives. Sometimes we are the individual on the side of advancing our understanding and other times it is someone we least expect.
